Educate Together Knocknacarra Triumphs at Credit Union Schools Quiz 2024.
31 January, 2024We are delighted to announce that Knocknacarra Educate Together National School (NS), which is celebrating its tenth year as a learning community, has been crowned champions in Competition B (Senior) category of the highly anticipated Credit Union Schools Quiz 2024. In a gripping final at the RDS in Dublin, the champions stood out from more than 90 competing teams, showcasing exceptional intelligence, knowledge and collaborative teamwork
The competition this year was fiercely contested, with teams demonstrating exceptional acumen and teamwork. The questions, covering a wide range of topics, challenged the contestants to dig deep into their reserves of knowledge and quick thinking. The event was brought to life by the cheers and support from families, friends, and teachers. Renowned presenter John Sharpson, known to many as Múinteoir John, hosted the final, adding to the excitement of the occasion.
Speaking about the quiz, Matt Wallen, principal at Knocknacarra Educate Together NS, said, “We are delighted that for the second year in a row a team from our school has won the Credit Union Schools Quiz Final, last year in Category A and this year in Category B. We’re extremely proud of the team who demonstrated great knowledge and cooperation to achieve this incredible result. We’re also grateful to the teachers and parents who supported these children to prepare for the quiz.”
The quiz is an important part of the Irish League of Credit Union’s (ILCU) youth outreach programme, which aims to demonstrate the value of local credit unions to children and young people. The ILCU is the largest credit union representative body on the island of Ireland, working on behalf of member credit unions in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
